This morning, we came together at the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment memorial at the Woolshops by M to pause and honour the sacrifice and service of all those who have served in our armed forces, past and present. The short remembrance service was followed by the national two-minute silence at 11am - a chance to come together as a community to remember those who gave their lives and those who continue to serve today. A new statue was unveiled on Friday (May 17), paying tribute to a Yorkshire regiment that fought in some of the most famous battles in history: Waterloo, the Somme, and the D-Day landings. It is sited in Halifax, the symbolic home to the Duke of Wellington's Regiment (now part of the Yorkshire Regiment). More than 200,000 soldiers – many from from West Yorkshire – have served in the regiment over the past 300 years. Chris Kiddey went to the Woolshops for the unveiling ceremony. | ITV Calendar
